2016 Kickoff & Mentorship Panel
The Spoke Club
January 26, 2016January is National Mentorship Month, and we’re kicking off our year with a panel on the highly requested topic!
In Lean In, Sheryl Sandberg writes, “mentorship and sponsorship are crucial for career progression.”
Whether you’re the mentor or mentee, mentorship can have remarkable effects on your career. A study of over 1,000 workers at Sun Microsystems found that mentors were promoted 6x more often than those who did not mentor formally, and mentees were promoted 5x more often than those who were not formally mentored.
As Sheryl goes on to write in her chapter, “Are You My Mentor?”, mentorship can come from many different sources. So what does good mentorship look like, what benefits does it provide, and how do you find a mentor or mentee? Join us at the Spoke Club for an interactive panel that will include our very own co-founder, Despina Zanganas, as well as Judi Hughes, one of Lean In Canada’s earliest supporters and advisors. Seeking your own mentor or mentee? We’ll have lots of opportunity for networking, so don’t forget to bring your business cards!
Panelists:
Despina Zanganas – Co-Founder, Lean In Canada & Partner, 108 ideaspace Inc.
Judi Hughes – Partner, Your Planning Partners
Sylvia Link – Director of Marketing and Communications, Retired Teachers of Ontario
Arpita Agarwal – Senior Manager, Capgemini
